As far as I can remember, no matter which job industry one was into, securing a full-time job and turning it into a lifetime career, and retiring from it when the time came at the appropriate age was the working trend. That was the common working trend back in the 80s and 90s and people were proud when they could stick to just one job and get promoted along the way till their retirement.

How times have changed!

The work industry has been developing and advancing at such a progressive rate. It’s almost unrecognizable today! Most people may not realize these, but we are slowly but surely being replaced by machines and that includes the service industry.

The global market trend is changing as our society advances further and faster than ever before. More and more people are looking for their places in life and searching for that elusive meaning to life and living. People these days prefer to work smart rather than working hard. And as more and more workers around the globe get replaced by their robotic counterparts and machinery, what do they do?

They work part-time instead!

Of course, there are more than just one or two reasons people are switching to part-time work rather than full-time commitment to a job.

In the past, the focus was on full-time employment and benefits. Nowadays, it’s a different story altogether as the world job market advances with better technology than before and more and more people find themselves getting replaced by advanced machinery that not only saves cost for their companies in the long term but also prevent less injuries in the workplace as a result.

Besides, the advantages of working part-time more or less rivals that of full-time jobs these days as companies complete to employ more part-time workers and less full-time staffs with work benefits almost as good as working full-time for the same company! In the long run, it’s a win-win situation for both parties with companies cutting down on their cost in the long run and workers having more time on their hands as they work shorter hours and can commit to other things in life, including finding another part-time job if they so wish to!

Indeed, being a part-time worker is more flexible than working full-time nowadays and maybe even more beneficial in the future as the modern working trend continues to evolve!
